The Food & Drink Issue

From Amber Nettles, SVP of Growth & Strategy
As the weather gets warmer, we’re venturing out more and more — for me, specifically, that means setting dates for brunch with some of my favorite girlfriends, and/or making reservations to FINALLY try a restaurant I’ve had my eye on. Yesterday, after a mask-making session at Scratch Goods, my friends and I went to Boqueria for the first time, and indulged in more tapas than I could list. It was my first brunch in ages, and it reminded me how much I love eating at new places. I moved to Chicago in 2017, and it feels like I could eat somewhere new twice a week and still never get through all the city has to offer. If you’re like me, and love the food scene here. you will love our upcoming Food & Drink issue. Last year, Mike Sula and the Reader staff wrote about a variety of Chicago foods, trends, and more, including: Back of the Yards Algae Sciences, spirit-free drink brands and community platforms, and some of our staffers’ most memorable food experiences. The food issue is something I look forward to every year, and I can’t wait for this one to hit the stands. Click here to read last year’s issue and download the PDF, and contact us if you have interest in advertising in this year’s Food & Drink issue! (Booking deadline is noon Wednesday.

Branded content in 2023
Tell Your Story to our Readers
The Reader loves to work with businesses and individuals with great stories to tell, and we’re happy to discuss the various options for branded content series! For an example, check out
Cityscape, a branded content partnership of the Chicago Architecture Center, Chicago History Museum, and Wrightwood 659, along with the Reader’s architecture coverage. You can also see examples from LaLaMove, DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Tourist Office of Spain in Chicago, along with our Bull Horn series (sponsored by Red Bull in 2021) and our Poetry Corner (created in partnership with the Poetry Foundation). Contact us to talk about telling your story!

Best place to take yourself out on a date
Here’s a rule I live by: once a month, take yourself on a date. No phones allowed; bring a book. Last month, I ventured to Ghin Khao Eat Rice, and I can assure you it’s the perfect spot. (And I’ve done this 21 times!). MORE
