Federal Tax Relief for Upstate New York and Suffolk County

IR-2023-58, recently released by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), provides certain individuals, households and businesses affected by the severe winter storms with an extension of time, if needed, to file and pay their federal tax returns as follows:
- The extension of time is granted to May 15, 2023.
- The applicable counties are Erie, Genesee, Niagara, St. Lawrence and Suffolk.
- No penalty will be incurred with respect to any filing and payment deadlines that fall on or after December 23, 2022 through May 14, 2023.
