Ron DeSantis Is Still Trapped in Trump’s Shadow. Will He Ever Get Out?
Good morning from the Hive newsroom! Ron DeSantis had a self-described “great” time in Iowa over the weekend, but, as Eric Lutz says, it’s not a great sign for the Florida governor if he can only shine when Donald Trump is a no-show (Trump canceled his weekend Iowa rally due to weather concerns). DeSantis is expected to stand up a presidential campaign soon, but can he overcome his Trump problem?
As for Trump, Bess Levin finds that the ex-president’s advisers reportedly riled him up during the CNN town hall event last week by showing him tweets about his performance during commercial breaks. And, in case you missed it, despite reports that Trump and wife, Melania Trump, are closer than ever, the former first lady and mother of his child was not the subject of his Mother’s Day post, Levin writes.
