☀️ A mix of sun and clouds today while temperatures continue to climb today with a high in the mid-70s. The Twin Cities and much of southern Minnesota has the opportunity to hit 80 degrees for the first time this year on Wednesday. Thursday is looking gorgeous as well, with a high of around 79 degrees. 

🏛️ Minnesota Legislature returns from break and will be considering gun violence prevention legislation during the final six weeks of session. Attorney General Keith Ellison will join advocates at a press conference today to call for the passing of gun violence prevention measures and highlight gun violence as a public health epidemic.

🏀 The Timberwolves face off against the Lakers today without Rudy Gobert. The Timberwolves announced Monday they are suspending Gobert for Tuesday’s play-in game at L.A. for throwing a punch at Kyle Anderson. Gobert could return if the Timberwolves lose Tuesday and play the Pelicans/Thunder winner Friday night, or if they earn the No. 7 seed in the West with a win over the Lakers.

👮 The City of Minneapolis has begun the process to bring the 3rd Precinct building back to the community after it was vacated and damaged during the civil unrest following George Floyd’s murder in May 2020. One of four community conversations takes place today with local business owners at Hook and Ladder in Minneapolis.

🌿 A coalition of hemp farmers will raise concerns about the current cannabis legalization bills. They believe that if passed the bill will be detrimental to Minnesota’s existing hemp industry. One of the group’s main concerns is with bringing the regulation of hemp into the bill. Of the 21 states that have legalized recreational marijuana, Minnesota would be the first to regulate and tax hemp and marijuana the same.

Barron County police shooting: Identities of fallen officers, suspect revealed

• Two police officers were killed during a traffic stop in Barron County in western Wisconsin Saturday
• The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday identified the two officers as Chetek Police Officer Emily Breidenbach, 32, and Cameron Police Officer Hunter Scheel, 23. 
• The suspect has been identified as Glenn Douglas Perry, 50. 

At approximately 3:38 p.m. Saturday, Breidenbach and Scheel conducted a traffic stop in Cameron, Wisconsin, based on a warrant and to check the welfare of the driver, Perry, after a report of concerning behavior. 

During the traffic stop, gunfire was exchanged. Breidenbach and Scheel were pronounced dead at the scene, while Perry was taken to the hospital, where he later died. 

The bodies of the two police officers were transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies Monday morning.
