Dear Friends of Greentown Labs,

Spring energy is in the air, and our incubators have been buzzing with folks from across the climatetech ecosystem who are eager to support entrepreneurs, build partnerships to deploy technologies, and join the growing climatetech workforce!

Over the past month, we’ve hosted a career fair, a live podcast recording with Canary Media, an EnergyBar on the intersection of art and climatetech with Boston Ballet, Cleantech Open Northeast’s 2023 kickoff, and more. A big thank you to everyone who has joined us!

In case you missed it, last week we announced our biggest event of the year: the Greentown Labs Climatetech Summit! On Nov. 1 and 2, we’re inviting you, your colleagues, and all the climate champions in your life into our Houston, TX and Boston, MA incubators for a day of hands-on exploration with our 200+ startups and their climatetech solutions; keynotes and sessions featuring leaders across climatetech, finance, policy, and justice; and networking with industry trailblazers. Register for the summit here!

As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you want to engage with or support our community. Thank you for your commitment to climate action!

Warmly,
The Greentown Labs Team

Greentown Go News + Events

This fall and winter, the five climatetech startups selected for Greentown Go Make 2022 worked closely with Mitsubishi Corporation (Americas) (MCA) and the M-Lab Companies to accelerate partnerships to deploy and commercialize supply-chain-decarbonization solutions. As the Greentown Go accelerator concluded, the cohort and program partners announced investments, pilot projects, and more.

Greentown Go Move 2022 is wrapping up on May 11, and we hope you’ll join us for the program’s final showcase to hear about results from the cohort’s work with partners BASF and Magna to decarbonize automotive manufacturing and reduce vehicles’ life-cycle impacts.

Meanwhile, two programs are getting ready to kick off: Year 3 of the Carbon to Value Initiative and Greentown Go Energize 2023. Join us on May 24 to dive into carbontech with the Urban Future Lab at NYU Tandon School of Engineering, Greentown, Fraunhofer USA, and NYSERDA, and then network with New England’s offshore wind innovation ecosystem at a June 8 EnergyBar featuring the Go Energize 2023 Kickoff Event, with Vineyard Wind and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.

Updates from ACCEL

The Advancing Climatetech and Clean Energy Leaders Program (ACCEL) is an accelerator from Greentown and Browning the Green Space designed to bolster BIPOC-led climatetech startups by offering access to funding, networking connections, resources, and opportunities that structural inequities put out of reach.

We announced the inaugural cohort earlier this year, and in the program’s first months the startups have been matched with expert mentors, worked on developing their individualized accelerator roadmaps, received extensive coaching from curriculum and resources partner VentureWell, and more!

Read the program’s latest newsletter for a spotlight article on florrent and to learn how you can support the cohort. Not receiving ACCEL newsletters yet? Sign up here!

With the amount of energy needed to power it, heavy industry is an incredibly difficult sector to decarbonize. Our member Kanin Energy is working to change that. By providing waste-heat-to-power technologies to heavy industry facilities via third-party financing and turnkey installation, Kanin is removing financial and installation barriers to this solution. Read more about the startup’s work here!
Sol Clarity has a dual mission: clearing solar panels of dust that can significantly reduce their power output, while saving massive quantities of water that are currently needed to conduct this cleaning. Watch this short video about our member’s quick, water-free, and labor-free process for removing dust from solar panels, and read about it here.
