Friends of Greentown,
I’m still catching my breath from the whirlwind of conferences over the past month—from the MIT Energy Conference, to the EarthX E-Capital Summit, and then NREL’s Industry Growth Forum, I haven’t spent much time at my desk, but it has been amazing to see old friends in the network, meet some of you in person for the first time, and get to know so many new faces and firms who are getting this newsletter for the first time! Though my travel schedule may be cooling down, things are heating up as we approach the summer, and we have no shortage of opportunities for you to connect with our startups in May and June. Here are some events you won’t want to miss:
- May 19: Greentown Labs + The Ion Activation Festival (Greentown Houston)
- Innovators from across Houston’s Innovation District will come together to celebrate the milestones of the ecosystem over the past two years, the future of energy transition in Houston, and what startups need from industry leaders to keep the momentum going.
- May 24: Carbon to Value Initiative Year 3 Kickoff (Greentown Boston)
- Celebrate the kickoff of Year 3 of the Carbon to Value (C2V) Initiative, a multi-year collaboration among the Urban Future Lab at NYU Tandon School of Engineering, Greentown, Fraunhofer USA, and NYSERDA. At this event, attendees will hear from industry experts as well as pitches from this year’s carbontech startup finalists.
- June 8: EnergyBar: Go Energize 2023 Kickoff (Greentown Boston)
- At this EnergyBar, attendees will hear lightning pitches from finalists building environmental and digital solutions for responsible development in offshore wind industry and celebrate the kickoff of Go Energize 2023, a Greentown Go startup-corporate partnerships accelerator program in partnership with Vineyard Wind and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.
- June 28: Transition on Tap (Greentown Houston)
- Transition On Tap is Greentown Labs’ monthly networking event devoted to fostering conversations and connections among the climate and energy transition ecosystem in Houston and beyond. Entrepreneurs, investors, students, and friends of climatetech are invited to attend, meet colleagues, discuss solutions, and engage with our growing community!

PILOT DIGEST
As a reminder, Greentown’s Pilot Digest, which we launched late last year and shared with you in Q1, will be coming out again on May 24. When it comes to solving the climate crisis, there is a pressing need to scale, implement, and commercialize new innovations as quickly as possible. New technologies need commercial validation, and often the quickest path to market is through existing incumbents. This Digest is an aggregation of our member startups that are currently seeking pilot projects with commercial or industrial partners. Those projects can range in scale, scope, and cost—all of which is laid out in detail in a quarterly newsletter with a PDF, similar to the Deal Flow Digest. It is your go-to resource to learn about our members’ planned pilot projects and how you can assist in scaling their climate solutions, either through hosting a pilot or supporting them financially.
If you are interested in receiving the most recent Pilot Digest and future editions, please reach out to Dan Cliff. |
