Levin Report: World Reacts to Tucker Carlson’s Fox News Firing Like the Allies Just Defeated the Nazis

By now, you’ve likely heard the news that Tucker Carlson is out at Fox, after being fired on Monday morning by CEO Suzanne Scott, who told him decision came “from above.” Whether Carlson’s canning stemmed from Fox’s recent nine-figure settlement with Dominion Voting Systems; the host’s “comments about Fox management”; a current lawsuit by a former Carlson producer alleging a workplace rife with misogyny and harassment; or some combination thereof, is not yet clear. What is clear is that given Carlson’s longtime role as one of the most destructive forces in American life, many people have reacted to the news in a fashion not dissimilar to those on V-E Day, i.e. when Germany unconditionally surrendered to the Allies and celebrations erupted around the world.

Over at The View, the studio audience broke out into a rapturous applause and then joined the hosts in a round of “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye.” This is not a joke, as you can see below:

On Twitter, cries of “ding dong the witch is dead” rang out, while others celebrated with choice GIFs and clips:

Some circulated great moments in Carlson history, like when someone told him to his face, “Dude, you are the worst human being known to mankind”:

Many noted that Carlson has achieved what no other pundit before him has: being fired by four separate networks:

And, of course, there was the poetic justice in the fact that Carlson clearly had no idea that he was going to be sacked when he signed off on Friday night:

While some people will claim all of this is in poor taste—and that cheering a person losing their job is a bad look—it’s important to remember that (1) Carlson will undoubtedly land a new gig with possibly even more money than he was earning at Fox and (2) Carlson was one of the worst purveyors of right-wing hate on TV. For starters, he “constructed what may be the most racist show in the history of cable news”; he claimed the “trans movement” is targeting Christians; he demanded a Black Supreme Court nominee prove herself to him; he portrayed January 6 as an “orderly” gathering of sightseers; and he continued to prop up Donald Trump’s lies despite privately knowing Trump was full of shit. Among so many other things!
