From Amber Nettles, SVP of Growth & Strategy
It is always exciting to put the Best of Chicago issue together, and this year is no exception! With more than 400,000 votes and 300 categories, it’s all hands on deck here as we begin layout for one of our biggest (if not, the biggest) issues of the year.

Here are some answer to frequently asked questions about Best of Chicago:
1. Best of Chicago categories are determined each year by the Reader staff, based on the number of nominees and votes within those categories from the previous year, and suggestions from our readers. E-mail us to suggest a category for next year.
2. Best of Chicago nominations were accepted Nov. 10-Dec. 9, online from reader submissions.
The top five nominees were placed on the ballot.
3. Voting took place Jan. 18-Feb. 15. We promoted nominations and voting in print, online on chicagoreader.com, on our social media channels, and in our email newsletters.
4. Winners are determined by the number of votes. The Reader staff does not choose nominees or winners!

We are still accepting advertising for our print issue until Tuesday at noon. E-mail us for rates and deadlines!

Branded content in 2023
Tell Your Story to our Readers
The Reader loves to work with businesses and individuals with great stories to tell, and we’re happy to discuss the various options for branded content series! For an example, check out
Cityscape, a branded content partnership of the Chicago Architecture Center, Chicago History Museum, and Wrightwood 659, along with the Reader’s architecture coverage. You can also see examples from LaLaMove, DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Tourist Office of Spain in Chicago, along with our Bull Horn series (sponsored by Red Bull in 2021) and our Poetry Corner (created in partnership with the Poetry Foundation). Contact us to talk about telling your story!

The Reader, en español

Sponsors sought to support Spanish translations
To better serve our Spanish-speaking communities, the Reader is now translating and publishing some of its stories into Spanish. We’re seeking sponsors to help underwrite the cost of this endeavor. Sponsorship packages (click here to view) include print and digital tags, as well as additional media placements. Contact us today to partner in this project.
