Hello, Joe Hood here. I’m the Managing Editor of the Financial Post. And we are delighted to see you’re interested in signing up to FP Investor, our new newsletter.
Here’s a little story about the first stock I ever bought. The commodity supercycle was going strong. BRIC countries were the future. A commodity play in China couldn’t miss — could it?
At first, things went well. Then they went ever better. Beijing relaxed capital restrictions, and Chinese equities soared. This isn’t so hard, I thought.
Less than a year later, the Financial Crisis hit. Markets crashed. The supercycle was over. The BRICs lost their lustre.
There was no such thing as a sure thing, but somewhere along the way I became fascinated.
Investing wasn’t just about numbers on a ticker — it was about the world and everything in it. Science, geopolitics, psychology — everything.
Trying to understand that complex, ever-shifting puzzle has intrigued me ever since.
Here at the Financial Post, we are lucky to have some of the best guides in the business. Experts like Tom Bradley, Martin Pelletier, Peter Hodson and David Rosenberg, who live and breathe the markets and can sort fads from fundamentals.
The chance to bring their latest columns straight to your inbox is one of the reasons we’re excited about the FP Investor newsletter.
But we have a lot more planned, too. And we’re just getting started.
Thanks for taking this journey with us.
