Dear Friends of Greentown Houston,

We hope your February has been going well and you’ve taken the opportunity to celebrate Black History Month! Here at Greentown, we have been honoring the Black Americans who have paved the way on climate, from bringing environmental justice to national attention to making breakthroughs in climate science; learn more about some Black leaders working to address environmental issues here

Next week, we are excited to host Climate and Community, a Black History Month fireside chat and networking event that’s part of The Ion’s Blackstreet 2023 events series. This event will explore the disproportionate impact of climate change on marginalized communities, especially communities of color, and potential solutions to address these inequities. It’ll take place at Greentown Houston on Feb. 21 at 5:30 p.m. CT; you can register here!

We’re also looking forward to once again being a part of an annual Houston tradition: Houston Tech Rodeo! This conference, organized by Houston Exponential, is a four-day showcase of the Houston startup community and all the innovation happening in the city, and we’ll be hosting a variety of panels on energy tech followed by a tequila tasting happy hour on Feb. 28. Learn more about what we have lined up and register here.

Besides these exciting February events, we’re also looking forward to the programs we have lined up for this year. The Carbon to Value (C2V) Initiative has opened Year 3 applications, due March 31; this six-month accelerator is designed to support startups with scalable solutions that capture carbon and/or incorporate captured carbon as a major input for valorization. Applications are also open for Go Energize 2023, our newest Greentown Go program, and are due April 4! For this program, we’re looking for startups with innovative solutions that can help offshore wind projects develop responsibly and operate efficiently. Don’t miss out on these opportunities to get support, connections, and resources to help you scale your climatetech solution!

Looking to learn more about and engage with Greentown and our startups? Join us for Transition On Tap—our monthly networking event that convenes Houston’s energy transition ecosystem—on March 6 and April 27! We hope to see you there.

Warmly,
The Greentown Houston Team
