Happy Older Americans Month
|
Greetings!
Every May, the Administration for Community Living leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month (OAM). The 2023 theme is Aging Unbound, which offers an opportunity to explore diverse aging experiences and discuss how communities can combat stereotypes. Join us in promoting flexible thinking about aging — and how we all benefit when older adults remain engaged, independent, and included.
On May 3, Senior Planet was invited to support our community partners — the City of San Antonio DHS Senior Centers, the Adult Protective Service South Texas Community Board, and the Alamo Area Council of Governments — to bring recognition of the national observance and create a proclamation for this month. In attendance and support of the joyous event were District 3 Council Member and Senior Planet trainer Phyllis Viagran, District 4 Council Member Dr. Adriana Rocha, District 7 Council Member Rosie Castro, and District 9 Council Member John Courage.

Affordable Internet for All: Share Your Experience |
The State of Texas is designing solutions to ensure that all residents have access to high quality and affordable internet service, devices, skills training, and digital support. To better understand these barriers, the Texas Broadband Development Office (BDO) has developed the Digital Opportunity Public Survey.
The Public Survey enables households to share their experiences accessing the internet, devices and the skills training necessary to leverage their use for education, health care, economic development and access to essential services.

Learning, social connections, great conversations, and fun do not have to stop during this period of social isolation. We’re a community of people 60 and older who are harnessing the power of technology to change the way we age. |
