🏛️ Lawmakers and advocates plan to hold press conference on recent abortion rulings and impact on Minnesota. On Friday, federal judges in the United States issued conflicting rulings on the availability of mifepristone, a medication used in medication abortions. In Minnesota, over half of the state’s abortion patients rely on mifepristone and misoprostol abortion procedures within the first 11 weeks of pregnancy.

🏀 The WNBA draft is scheduled to take place tonight at 6 p.m. Central in New York City. The Indiana Fever have the first draft pick while the Minnesota Lynx have the second pick.

🏫 Rochester Public Schools will be closed Monday due to a possible cyber attack. The school district detected “unusual activity on the district’s network,” Thursday, and responded by shutting down the network and “almost all core technology systems,” while staff began an investigation.

🏦 Dakota County is set to reopen the Burnsville License Center after a remodel to improve the customer experience. The renovated license center includes an additional workstation, more customer seating space and improved security measures.

🚧 The Minnesota Department of Transportation will begin construction on the Hwy 169 and County Road 9 interchange between Plymouth and New Hope. The County Road 9 bridge over Hwy 169 between Nathan/Lancaster Ln. and Gettysburg Ave will be closed through fall 2023.
 

Weekend recap

👮 Two police officers were killed during a traffic stop in Barron County in western Wisconsin Saturday. At approximately 3:38 p.m. Saturday, a Chetek police officer conducted a traffic stop during which gunfire was exchanged. A Chetek police officer and a Cameron police officer were pronounced dead at the scene. The person involved in the shooting was taken to the hospital, where they later died.

🏒Gophers hockey captain Brock Faber has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Minnesota Wild. He will immediately join the team and travel to Chicago ahead of Monday night’s game against the Blackhawks.

🏀 Timberwolves fight 🏀

There was plenty of drama at the Minnesota Timberwolves game on Sunday. Rudy Gobert was seen throwing a punch at forward Kyle Anderson in the Wolves huddle. After throwing the punch, Taurean Prince rushed at Gobert, pushing him away, while other teammates held back Anderson.

Anderson remained in the game after the incident while Gobert quickly went back to the locker room and was ruled out for the rest of the game.

Jaden McDaniels was also ruled out for the remainder of the game with a season-ending hand injury. He was spotted on camera punching the wall of the tunnel to the locker room.

Coach Chris Finch says Gobert’s availably for the play-in and the postseason will be determined in the coming days with input from team president Tim Connelly.
